Facelift
Six and a half revisions in, I’ve finally settled on a new design for Es Bueno. I hope that you like it as much as I do. I’m still working on some of the darker corners, but for now, this is what we’ve got.
Designing for yourself as you may or may not know is hard. At least it is for me. Like I said, this was the sixth and a half revision. What really makes this work, in my opinion, is the photo I’m using on the background, taken by Mr. Phil Coffman in Banff Canada. I made it my goal to push my own design habits aside and try something new. So there is no depth, shadows, shading, etc — the design is entirely flat.
I used the 16 column grid from 960.gs and the typeface is FF Tisa Web Pro distributed by Typekit. I struggled with the idea of bringing the entire site over to ExpressionEngine since I talk so much about it, but there are nearly 300 posts in here and porting them would have been more work than it was worth at the moment, so I stuck with Tumblr. Not to knock on Tumblr, it does everything I need to keep a blog up and running.
If you look hard, there’s a hidden gem out there somewhere… first person to email/tweet me about it gets a Dribbble invite.
Update: The Dribbble invite is gone, but send me emails anyways, and I will reply with wit, sarcasm and maybe another Dribbble invite.
